It seems I'm going to have to get used to freak storms in St. Louis. I was happy I came to work early today because we had another one at about the time that I would have normally been leaving for work. It ripped through the area in only a few minutes - and left just as quickly as it arrived. My car sat cozy on the ramp this time, shying away from the hail and lightning. No word of tornadoes either, but there was news of a fire resulting from a lightning strike on a government building nearby.
If I would have to pick a theme for our weekend, I would say "Beer". It started for Mike and Nick with a lunch at the Schlafley's brewery...followed by beer tasting at the St. Louis Brew Fest. We went to the Schlafley's brewery again on not just Saturday - but Sunday too. We also went to the Trailhead Brewery AND went in search of another brewery reported to be in the St. Charles area - though were unsuccessful at locating it. The last beer excursion worth mentioning was a trip to Friar Tuck to pick up some of the brews discovered at the Brew Fest. lol. I should mention that I was the designated driver through all this. ;) Guess it's to their benefit that I prefer wine!
We did do some other activites other than drinking beer. We went to the gun range where Nick outshot all of us (though, I think I hit a personal best!) and we went motorcycle shopping. Unfortunately, Mike still hasn't found a bike suitable for him to start learning on so the search continues. Last but not least, Mike and Nick spent several hours fishing (while drinking beer) and even turned it into a little competition on who could catch more fish. (The final score? Mike 14 Bass - Nick 12 Bass. Smallest fish goes to Mike (4 inches). Score's tied for the largest fish at an estimated 2.5 lbs.). I baked some banana pecan bread and some Ricotta Cheese Cookies - which both turned out AWESOME. I really like this Ricotta Cheese Cookies recipe and it's basic enough that I think I can have some fun with it - add some white chocolate chips, orange, craisins, etc...hmmmm the possibilities.... We had also hoped to go golfing but the weather didn't cooperate (again!).
I was very disappointed about the rain actually because I have plans to go golfing with my dad for Father's Day in a couple weeks. I would prefer to go with a little more practice under my belt especially since he has invited another pair. I think he must find enjoyment at the prospect of embarrassing me. :) I will have to make a point to hit the driving range to keep that probability at a minimum.
