My brother and his fiance has finally selected a date for their wedding. It seems it'll be a big one! Much larger than ours, although it wouldn't take much to achieve that. Mike and I chose to elope and we'll eventually, probably for our 5 year anniversary, do it again on a slightly larger scale.
Mike says he saved my life this morning. :) haha. The C-RAM went off (that's our alarm system that warns of possible incoming rounds. If you hear it, you're supposed to immediately take cover or drop down to the ground). All I needed was the classic airline announcement "Take a second to look around you, as the nearest emergency exit may be behind you". When the alarm went off I started across the walkway to the nearest hardened building when only a couple feet behind me was a bunker. It didn't register that it was there so Mike grabbed me and yanked me into it. Had he not, I would have been standing outside a building which not much more protection than I would have standing in the walk way. Of course the 'incoming rounds' turned out to be nowhere close but my scramble gave Mike a good laugh all day.

Few of us got much sleep last night. A rocket interrupted our slumber sometime between midnight and 1:00am. It jolted me awake and the continued lock down announcements prevented me from falling back asleep. The rocket landed in a parking lot immediately destroying a vehicle. Subsequent fire destroyed four more. That's it! All that work for five SUVs.
We've finally figured out when we are going to go out on R&R and to where. Let the countdown begin! We've pushed it up a little because we want to go home for Christmas and the two upcoming trips would have been too close to each other otherwise. On this next one, we'll be heading to Amsterdam, a little of the surrounding area, and then Norway. It was a toss up between Italy and Norway and my dad has apparently convinced Mike that Norway is the better bet so to Norway we shall go. :) I'm looking forward to it!
The bump on my arm has grown so large that it looks like I have a massive muscle! haha. You can only tell it's a separate bump when you actually touch it..and I don't like when it's touched because it's sensitive! At least moving my arm doesn't bother it anymore. :)

Yesterday afternoon wasn't very productive but I did get to watch a package get blown up. I had to make a field trip over to a different building when my building went under lockdown while a piece of mail deemed 'suspicious' was inspected and eventually destroyed. The action took place within view from the building I was visiting so I observed. It was pretty interesting. The utilized a robot to move and poke at it, then a man in a space-like bomb suit took pictures and poked at it some more. Finally, they blew it up! :) It was a very lengthy show but ultimately worth it...:)
My arm survived the afternoon and even kick boxing but by bedtime it was extremely sensitive. Even the pressure from the bed sheet caused pain. It's turned into a bump that doesn't like being touched. My arm also doesn't like moving up. I'm told I get to enjoy this for the next two weeks. Once the pain goes away, it'll be time for the next! Ok. That's enough complaining.

Twenty-five mortars in less than two minutes. I think that's a record for me. Of course, none of them were very close..just close enough to put us under lock down for a while. I am one of the Emergency Coordinators, so I have the daunting task of tracking down a list of people during such events. Usually it's not bad, but there's those FEW people who never seem to figure out how to pick up a phone and let me know they're okay (nor do they answer!).
It was a REALLY long night last night and I didn't finish the Quarterly Reports before I went home but the late night did make it easy to finish them this morning. I was able to leisurely review all the reports throughout the day and comfortably submit on time. (Pat on the back)
Being ill affected my performance instructing class last night. We did focus on upper body and we did try a few new things..but I really didn't feel like I gave the energy I usually do. I try to stay pumped up personality-wise, hoping it will motivate some of the people in the class, but it just wasn't happening. It was one of the largest classes we've had in a while too. I would guess there were over 40 people!
We had a couple celebrations today. One to bid farewell to a colleague who is transferring Stateside and another to celebrate a birthday. Mike insists he doesn't want a Birthday Party so we shared the celebration with him figuring he might prefer that..but I don't think I'm satisfied. :) Muhahaha!
The different dynamics of people's work schedule is interesting around here. The schedule isn't really set so people are able to come and go as they please, provided they put in the hours they require to accomplish what they were hired to do and are available when needed to satisfy the clients. I'm the early bird in our group..and we just hired a night owl. It's kind of weird seeing someone not show up until just before lunch (and sometimes after!). Of course, he works until the wee hours of the night while I get to go home by dinner!

Today was finally slow enough that I was able to make some progress on my HR Database in Access. I'm pretty proud of myself. :) I'm being very thorough on my descriptions, comments, and column headings and trying to make it as fool proof as possible. I decided to recruit another co-worker (who works Stateside) on the project. I thought it might be a good idea since she has more experience than I in the program and I would hate to get the HR team excited about a prospect and let them down because I'm too busy to finish something I've started...or even figure it out. :) Two creative minds are better than one!
Mike and I watched "Next" last night with Nicolas Cage. I thought it was pretty good although confusing at times. It was hard to tell when he was seeing his future and when he wasn't. I can definitely see how the ability could be a blessing and a curse.
Mike has been put into a new position which has involved him with more meetings. It seems like poor Mike has spent more time in meetings than not the last couple of days. :) His new position deals heavily with tracking and analyzing the sector finances - something I think he'll excel at. Who knows? :) Maybe he'll finally learn what the word 'deadline' means :) (thus far he has been blessed with not having any)
I know I'm jinxing us now, but it has been remarkably quiet the last few days. Let's hope it stays that way.

It was another groggy morning for me today. It's a trend I'm not appreciating. I even went to bed early! I wonder why I'm so tired.
We had a little activity today that really got my heart racing. Mike was out running errands and I was unable to get a hold of him for a bit. They seemed relatively close to me so I was thinking the worse. Fortunately, it turned out the bark was worse than the bite. They were really loud but from what I can see, they didn't cause much damage and I haven't heard any reports about seriously injured people. Good thing.
X brought on the pain at kickboxing last night. It's almost like he's trying to weed people out. :) It's been getting a little crowded. I guess we'll see who's serious about getting in shape!
