We're back! And that means more (near) daily blogs :)
Coming back from Brazil wasn't nearly as bad as going out. Isn't that funny how that works? All of our flights were on time and went smoothly. My only complaint is lack of sleep. Air France was actually a decent airline... I guess as long as there isn't any trouble with the flights they're not bad to go with. haha.
Coming back to work hasn't been bad either. Jen did a fabulous job taking care of everything and while she insists it was tough while I was gone, I'm not seeing it coming back. I had a inbox full of emails but nothing that hadn't already been resolved... yippee!!

We finally went fishing today! The weather was just beautiful for it too. It was nice and sunny but not overly warm. Despite my insistance, Mike refused to put sunscreen on and now he resembles a giant lobster. No sympathy from me! He should have just listened. Doesn't he know that women are always right?
Fishing was fun. Was it worth what we paid to go? No. But Mike had a good time and he got to do what he wanted to get out of Rio and that was fish for Peacock Bass. ;) Can't put a price on Mike's happiness right!? (Awww ;) I have to brag though: not only did I catch the first, second, AND last fish..but in my opinion - the largest (If you ask Mike, he may dispute the last comment, but you know men when it comes to measuring). I'd estimate that, combined, we caught about 30 decent sized fish...and since we had a guide with us, I didn't have to bait a single hook! :)
Tomorrow's our last full day in Rio. We haven't decided what we'll do yet but I'm thinking shopping. We have yet to pick up any souvenirs (although we may take care of that at the Market on Sunday) and since we haven't made any other arrangements, that may be our best option (the only other is the beach...and well, refer to the lobster comment above)... Guess we'll see!

The weather is still warm but has turned a little cloudy. I can't say I'm complaining though. I still get the tan without the scorching bake. ;) Yesterday, Mike and I rented bicycles and toured the city. We rode along the beaches to Sugar Loaf, a scenic view point accessible by cable car. It was REALLY windy up there and despite the clouds, I believe we still got some decent pictures. (I've posted them up on the photo site already and will provide a link later) After taking pictures, we took a break at a Brazilian restaurant for lunch and then rode around a large lake that offered a nice view of Corcovado (the Jesus statue..I may have spelled that incorrectly).. The ride and heat really took it out of us so by late afternoon, we were sprawled on the couch again relaxing. :)
Today we actually made it to Corcovado. It was really sunny when we woke up but to our dismay, by he time we made it to the statue it was extremely cloudy around it. We did our best to snap some nice shots in between the clouds but ... well you can see for yourself! We did spot a local animal. No clue what it's called but I imagine it's the Brazilian version of our racoon :)
We hope to go fishing tomorrow for Peacock bass. I believe we have it arranged but I'm not really sure... it's really difficult to arrange things here with the language barrier... ugh :) with any luck, I'll be sunning on a boat with wine in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. ;) Supposely Peacock Bass are among the best in the world as far as bringing in ;) They're supposed to be fighters. We'll see!

Hello from Rio
I have to say, after all that trouble we had in the beginning of our travels, it has run pretty smoothly ever since.
We managed to move all of our stuff out of the condo and into storage AND we moved Pete in. We rearranged our flights so the Visa thing was no longer an issue and we got to spend time with both of our families. My mom spoiled us with brats and beans for breakfast (true Wisconsin treat) and Cindy fattened us up with yummy Hershey Bar Pie! It was nice visiting Tennessee. Knoxville seems similar to Madison - only a lot more hilly and spread out. We had a late Christmas ( I scored a nice travel jewelry case and new purse! ), went golfing, went shopping, and got our own personal tour of the city. :) It was nice to relax after the hussle of moving. I was glad we were able to see both families. ;)
Traveling to Brazil was long but trouble free and well worth the trip. It's so sunny and warm here. Fifteen minutes in the sun and you have a nice tan going. Have to be careful so you don't burn! The beach is a block away and we are staying on a street with major shopping. We've been doing nothing but sleeping in and kicking back. Noone speaks English but they all respond well to pointing at the menu :) haha. We did find an Irish Pub that has amazing burgers and good drinks....and :) an English speaking bartender. We're going to explore on bicycles tomorrow and trek up to the Jesus statue the following. Mike still wants to get out fishing...it's just a matter of finding a way to arrange it! :)
