Guess I shouldn't have called today uneventful! Right after I finished my earlier blog, we had two incoming rockets. One landed in the river (that was a good one) and the other landed within a mile. The boom was large enough to be felt within our building, however, not large enough for Mike to notice it. :) We were on lock down for about an hour, which only hindered the locals as they wanted to leave shortly after the rockets came in. Everyone was accounted for, and since there seemed to be no more activity, we were given the "All Clear".
We played our usual poker game tonight. I actually came out ahead! (YAY ME!) AND I got to give Mike back HALF the money he lost...I say half because he decided to buy in twice the normal buy in.....I tell you...I'm going to have to do something about that boy. I must say it was the most exciting Poker Game I've ever played. My friend Scot came to play with us. He's never played Texas Hold'em before, so of course he was struck with some v-e-r-y nice beginner's luck. Within the first half hour of play he was up at least $100. He held on steady throughout the night and has promised he will be back next week. (Mmm..wonder why).. I was almost out of money - Mike was already out his $40 when things started turning around for me and I started to slowly but surely come back. :) About 10 minutes before we were about to end the game, we were hit by some more activity. We had just played our hand when there was a large boom. Ethen commented on how close it seemed when a loud V-R-R-R-r-r-rrr sounded overhead. Silence fell upon our remaining players when all at once we came to the realization that - that noise was a mortar - and it was coming right at us. We all sprang to action and took cover under the building we were playing outside of. As Mike dived off his plastic chair, he managed to knock over the bench I was leaping over and that dominoed me into the concrete. The mortar landed on the other side of the building we hid under. It turned out to be a dud. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to only end up with busted up shin and knee! We resumed our play, feeling a little more tense. I lost $15 that I could've taken home - Scot ended up the big winner with Ethen coming in second..... Now..we head off to bed! Whew! Good night!
