Hello! Another fine day in Baghdad. It's absolutely beautiful outside. The sun is shining, it's warm - but not tooo warm, and there's a slight breeze. It's a perfect day to sit outside...SO at my computer I sit. :) haha. I did spend part of the day yesterday reading outside. My goal this summer is to spend Friday afternoons at the pool. Last summer, I spent far too many of those weekend afternoons reading in my room. Why not get some color while I'm at it!? :D I also cleaned my room between chapters and took a little nap. Very relaxing.

The locals that have been continuing to come to work (they still have off because of the Mosque incident) tell us it's still 'very bad' outside the IZ. It's a great risk for them to come to work when it's quiet, but even more so at times like now. They certainly have great dedication to their jobs. From what we can tell from inside the IZ, it's no different than any other day. We don't see any unrest and attacks on the IZ seem no more numerous than usual...from what I hear it's a much different story on CNN.

It sounds like Jason is having quite the time getting home today. His commercial flight was cancelled from Baghdad, so he took military to Kuwait. He was going to purchase a ticket from Kuwait to Amman to catch his originally scheduled flight, but it was Friday and noone was working! He ended up trying to get to Amsterdam in time to catch his connecting flight, but that flight ended up delayed and he missed his connection as well! He had a first class ticket purchased to go home so I'm sure he's not pleased that he won't be able to use it. :S Hope he's on a plane by now!

I guess that's about all the excitement there is around here. Which is a good thing considering what's outside! Hope everyone has a great day!
